IEE Lean Six Sigma Graduate Workshop

OVERVIEW
This “sharpen the saw” workshop provides Black Belts and others with techniques that can help their organization increase benefits by going beyond Lean Six Sigma and the Balanced Scorecards. This workshop describes how organizations can transition from a push for project creation system to an enterprise metric driven system that pulls for the most important projects at the right time; e.g., projects that address the current constraint of the system. Attendees walk through the Integrated Enterprise Excellence (IEE) project execution roadmap, which truly integrates Six Sigma and Lean tools. Attendees learn how to use IEE, transition an organizational firefighting culture to a data-driven enterprise. This course illustrates how satellite-level and 30,000-foot-level metrics can be used to take control charts to a new level of applicability and how these techniques can be used to improve the effectiveness of their business scorecards/dashboard metrics.

MASTER THE TOOLS
The methodologies in this workshop are aligned with the described techniques in Implementing Six Sigma, 2nd edition, which won the Crosby medal. Included is the latest version of the roadmap described in Implementing Six Sigma, 2nd edition with all its drill downs. The traditional DMAIC (define-measure-analyze-improve-control) roadmap is taken to the next level through a true integration of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies. The course also provides advanced tools that help the student resolve complex and atypical problems. These tools help attendees improve their project performance and their ability to impact the enterprise system as a whole.


ONLY ONE COURSE CURRICULUM
With the blending of Lean and Six Sigma along with other improvement tools, a holistic approach to improvement is used in the course. These skills provide the Black Belt with the ability to succeed in any business area. Why focus only on manufacturing, transactional, or other subset of the tools, when every organization has aspects of each type. Manufacturing organizations have opportunities for improvement in HR, sales, and procurement, which are transactional work, while transactional organizations produce papers and reports and manage inventories, which are analogous to manufacturing processes. Every Black Belt in the IEE system is provided with the skills to be successful in all improvement facets.

This workshop teaches the tools along with the thought process that goes along with selecting the best tools to use and wisely applying the tools. Through the detailed provided roadmaps, this course material and real-life workshop discussions provide a thought process for both integrating and using Six Sigma and Lean tools wisely in both transactional and manufacturing environments. At the end of the course, attendees understand, comprehend, and perform the following:

  • Communicative tools in gaining executive management buy in, and in presenting the benefits of utilizing Lean and Six Sigma concepts in an enterprise-level business system, not just a program;
  • Effective integration of Lean Six Sigma with Theory of Constraints (TOC) and other enterprise analyses;
  • Selection of the right statistical tools in driving effective utilization of metrics and correct activities;
  • Ability to recognize and use advanced improvement tools when beneficial.
