Has Strategy Become A Business "Catchall" Term?
In the most simple terms, what is a business strategy? How does a company obtain, and effectively communicate and adapt their strategy to time and competitive forces? We hear it all the time: Business leaders must have a strategy to meet their objectives. Without a strategy, time and resources can be wasted on piecemeal, disparate activities. Without a strategy, mid-level managers will fill the void with their interpretation of what the business should be doing, typically resulting in a disjointed set of activities. An organization can spend much time creating such a strategic listing; however, an organization can often have difficulty interpreting what the strategy is as it cascades throughout the company.

Creativity is a process of creating unusual associations among mental objects. Invention is a result of creative problem solving. Creativity can sometime result when there is an association of the right combination of objects.

A 21st Century Framework for Malcolm Baldrige Award Achievement: Integrated Enterprise Excellence - Going Beyond Lean Six Sigma and the Balanced Scorecard (Part 1 of 2)
Management must ask the right questions. The right questions lead to the wise use of statistical and non-statistical techniques to obtain knowledge from facts and data. Management needs to operate using the bromide: In God we trust; all others bring data. The book, The Integrated Enterprise Excellence System, describes how to operate with a knowledge-centered activity focus, which can redirect businesses so that efforts are more productive. Organizations can have success using the Malcolm Baldrige Award criteria, Lean Six Sigma, or some other methodology. However, these techniques do not provide a basic high-level business framework that provides whole, long-lasting benefits to the enterprise system.
