In The News

In the most recent news, Smarter Solutions attended WCBF's The Global Six Sigma Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 27-30, 2006. Pictured below from left to right are Smarter Solutions' CEO and Founder, Forrest Breyfogle, CIGNA's Leslie Benhke, and CIGNA's Chairman and CEO, H. Edward Hanway.

Amongst executives, senior-level managers, and practitioners, the following is an excerpt from CIGNA's CEO, H. Edward Hanway, on Leveraging Six Sigma To Drive The Acceleration Of Business Results:

"So, in the fall of 2002, we decided to initiate a grass-roots-driven quality program based on Six Sigma. Our first step was to select an experienced Six Sigma leader, Leslie Behnke from Motorola, to help drive this new initiative. Our second step was to select a training partner to begin building some infrastructure and expertise within the company. We chose Smarter Solutions, led by Forrest Breyfogle, for their high level of technical expertise, as well as their method of integrating and aligning Six Sigma with business strategy and customer needs...

By the end of 2003, Dental completed five initial projects, each delivering solid, tangible business results. Case in point: by reducing the time it took call handlers to log information into the unit’s databases before picking up the next incoming call, they saved over $500,000 a year in vendor staffing costs, due to increased call handling capacity.

Dental’s results earned the unit the CIGNA President’s Award. That got the attention of some of our other department leaders, and the demand for Six Sigma training began to spread throughout the organization. We, of course, stoked the demand by offering participating departments no-strings access to Six Sigma training and project mentorship programs."
