WEBINAR:
Binary
Logistic Regression Using Minitab
In this
webinar we will introduce the concept of binary logistic regression
using Minitab. This tool can be used to analyze process data
that has only a pass/fail output. We will primarily discuss
the use of continuous variables as predictors (or causes),
but we will also discuss how to use the tool to perform a
logistic ANOVA or a logistic DOE.

Analytics: Before or After Lean?
I
was approached by a big-name Lean leader in a workshop that
I was conducting for a Lean professional organization. He
stated that Jack Welch did it wrong at General Electric (GE).
He should have leaned out all business units instead of selling
the business units that he did not want to deal with.
The fundamental
thought process that all businesses can be... Read

95%
Confidence, is it the right value to use?
Written
by Rick Haynes |
A routine
question in a LSS belt class is about why we use 95% confidence
or a 5% alpha rejection criteria. It is a great question,
that does not have a simple answer.
A p-value
of 0.05 is where we decide significance, but at that value
we have a risk of 1 in 20 that w have falsely rejected the
null hypothesis (called it significant in error) When you
think of 1 in 20 that is not that good, but it seems to work,
right?
I had
a mentor once that...

Control Plans for an Improvement Project (made real?)
Written by Rick Haynes |
I reviewed
an excellent project from a student in Tulsa. They took a
difficult topic and followed the improvement roadmap in a
path that worked quite well in this case, but might not have
been optimal for other problems. Truly good work.
I was
reviewing the control plan and stopped on the reaction plan
to problems. For those that know me recognize that that is
a point of discussion I use in most certification discussions.
After an email and response they were certified, it went quick
because they did understand the issue and I did not see it
in my submission. But I thought, what am I looking for in
a control plan?

Cp,
Cpk, Pp, Ppk, and Business Metrics - Insightful or Folly?
|
In
Lean Six Sigma, much training effort is spent on conveying
the importance of having a measurement system so that
consistent and correct decisions are made relative to
part quality and other assessments. Measurement Systems
Analysis (MSA) and Gage R&R study (Repeatability
and Reproducibility) are an integral part of the Lean
Six Sigma Black Belt and Green Belt training.
