Often
in quality we are asking management if they want
to improve. Who can say they don't? It's kind of
like someone being against motherhood and apple
pie. However, what I believe is really needed is
an improved management system (i.e., business measurements,
analysis, and improvements), which Integrated Enterprise
Excellence (IEE) provides.
Near the beginning of a one-day workshop this month
at St. Louis' Quality conference, I used Dr. Deming's
14 points in an exercise to assess how well current
business measurement and improvement strategies
are doing. At the end of the workshop I did a similar
comparison to an IEE management system.
With
further elaboration on the shortcomings of traditional
systems and the details of an IEE implementation,
each volume builds upon one another so organizations
develop a true appreciation and understanding
of IEE benefits and its implementation.
