Many organizations have a Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma deployment that have stalled. These organizations can how have difficulty finding projects, especially selecting projects that have true value to the organization as a whole.
Often it appears as if projects in Six Sigma (Lean Six Sigma) deployments are being sought out by the Six Sigma (Lean Six Sigma) steering committee, even when there is no true urgency for project initiation and completion. This can be considered a push for project creation when implementing Six Sigma (or Lean Six Sigma). Now let’s consider what could be done better with an implementing Six Sigma or implementing Lean Six Sigma in a deployment.
What is more desireable it to have a deployment system where process owners solicit help that leads to the execution of Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma projects, which help their business-aligned performance metrics. When done effectively, this would lead to projects that are important to the business as a whole.
A system that addresses these issue is described in the Quality Digetst article “Stop Wasting Improvement Resources: Theory of constraints and lean Six Sigma project selection so the enterprise as a whole benefits”
